BUILDING HIGH RES SIGN

Building High-Resolution Signage for SBI Life Insurance

Building High-Resolution Signage: A Challenging Journey with SBI Life Insurance

In 2012, Sign For Success was presented with an extraordinary opportunity: to develop and install high-resolution signage for the SBI Life Insurance headquarters located in Mumbai. This project came with its unique set of challenges that few signage vendors in the city were willing to tackle. The project was not only ambitious but also high-risk, involving intricate installation methods that would ultimately showcase our innovation and determination.

The Challenge

The signage installation was set to take place behind the main conference room of a prestigious building known as Natraj by Rustumji, adjacent to the Mumbai Metro track. This setting posed several obstacles:

  • High-Risk Environment: Many major players in the signage industry refused to take on this project due to the potential risk of falls during installation.
  • Installation Constraints: The installation involved glass facades where drilling or making holes was impossible. We had to think creatively to ensure a secure and safe installation.

Innovative Solutions

Facing these challenges head-on, I (Prashanth Surve, Sign For Success) took the initiative to devise a strategy that would allow us to complete the installation safely and effectively:

  • Custom Frame Construction: We designed a separate frame that was carefully suspended from the roof, hanging 18 feet down from the terrace. This method allowed us to avoid any direct contact with the glass and minimize risk.
  • Specialty Adhesives: For the two signs affixed to the glass, we utilized 3M specialty double-sided tape. This eliminated the need for screws and ensured a secure bond without compromising the integrity of the glass facade.
  • Illuminated Signage: The signage was designed to be fully illuminated. The SBI Life Insurance letters stood 6 feet tall, proportionate to the overall design, with the logo measuring an impressive 8×8 feet. The letters were made from 4mm acrylic, embossed with a black opaque finish and wrapped in SBI’s brand guidelines blue vinyl.
  • Dual-Color Vinyl: For enhanced visibility, we incorporated dual-color vinyl, which appeared white during the day and glowed in white at night, making it eye-catching at all hours.

Timely Completion

Despite the complexity of the installation, our team successfully completed the project within a tight 15-day deadline. The signage now proudly faces the bustling Western Express Highway, effectively enhancing the visibility and branding of SBI Life Insurance.

Additionally, we installed two reception signs within the facility, maintaining the same high-quality standards and design features.

The Impact

Upon the successful completion of this project, SBI Life Insurance recognized our capabilities and subsequently ordered similar signage for their Patna head office. This endorsement is a testament to our commitment to quality and innovation in the signage industry.
